Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Minnesota

This new resource is well backed by a collaboration of professional therapists who really care about women and their experiences as mothers.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Minnesota (PPSM) is a resource for Minnesota families seeking support and guidance as they adjust to pregnancy. Prenatal and postnatal depression and anxiety need not be suffered alone. PPSM is dedicated to helping mothers, family members, and professionals engage with resources in the Twin Cities.

Here is a photo of PPSM chapter leader, Suzanne Swanson, Ph. D. and Licensed Psychologist, standing with Maureen Campion (right, and in red) of Parenting Oasis. These wonderful women and skilled therapists are seen here at the Minnesota Better Birth Coalition's March March and Day on the Hill at the Minnesota State Capitol.

Suzanne Swanson is in private practice in St. Paul, MN Mothers Matter. Contact her at 651-221-9709. Or, by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Baby Space

One tough day, Teri Rose was driving with her baby, 1, and 3 year-old children in the back seat. In the front seat, Teri was crying. Yet, even through her tears, she saw another mother walking along with her toddler in her one hand and pushing a stroller in the other, across the ice and snow. That mom was heading toward a bus stop. Teri had a sudden insight, while she was feeling this overwhelmed, with all her resources, what was life like for mothers without a strong support circle?

Baby Space is the inspiration of that fateful, snowy day. The model of Baby Space is from the baby's perspective. Not a mini-kindergarten, Baby Space offers support from pregnancy with doula care to a beautiful day care with a reading program and weekly meals shared by parents, children and daycare providers. Uniquely, the same caregiver continues with baby class to class, moving on from one stage of development to the next with the baby. This way, the baby has a stable relationship with the caregiver, helping to increase trust and stability in the baby's life. Read more at BabysSpace.org
