Ruth Wingeier writes:
"We are needing help at Alisha's Care Center, the birth center, here
near Long Prairie. We could use full time help, part time help,
weekend help, occasional help. If any midwives are interested in
helping out with home or birth center births, please let me
know."

...

The birth locations in this article are free-standing birth centers. They are not areas inside a hospital. Approximately 10% of all women will transport from the birth center to the hospital, either to finish the birth or to check something out after the birth. Families typically go home a few hours after giving birth. Postpartum follow-up care is provided by the birth center. It may be helpful to have additional arrangements made by the family themselves with extended family, a postpartum doula, or a visiting nurse.

A birth center is a wonderful option for parents wanting an out of hospital birth but also, don't wish to, or cannot, birth where they are living.
